The University of Hong Kong held a career talk on "Navigating Your Dream Career in Finance and Technology" on November 28, 2024.
Dr. David Ng, our CEO, entrepreneur, and researcher, has been invited as a guest speaker at the prestigious HKU Career Talk. Joining him are two distinguished professionals: Mr. David Sun Tak-kei, GBS, JP, former Director of Audit of Hong Kong, and Ms. Yan Yu, a seasoned Wall Street investment banker.
This event offers students a unique opportunity to gain insights into diverse career paths, from cutting-edge technology to global finance and public service. Dr. Ng will share his experiences in entrepreneurship and IC design, with a focus on emerging opportunities in RISC-V technology and its transformative potential in the semiconductor industry.

Biography of the speakers:
-Mr. David Sun GBS JP
David Sun Tak-kei, GBS, JP was the Director of Audit of Hong Kong, a “principal official” position, between 2012 and 2018, and was the President of the Hong Kong Institute of Certified Public Accountants between 2003 and 2007 (Hong Kong Society of Accountants before 8 September 2004).
Sun began his career at Ernst & Young in 1977 and was the Far East Co-Area Managing Partner, until his retirement in 2010. He was the partner in charge of the Akai Holdings account from 1991 to 1999.
Sun was a member of Securities and Futures Commission between 2001 and 2007. In 2003, he became the president of the Hong Kong Institute of Certified Public Accountants (HKICPA) and served until 2007.Sun was later appointed as Director of Audit of Hong Kong in July 2012. He retired in December 2018.
-Miss Yan Yu
Yan Yu was born in China and moved to the UK in her teens. After obtaining an MSc from Warwick University (with Distinction) she joined Morgan Stanley as an analyst and spent 14 years on Wall Street as a derivatives trader, working for banks like Goldmans Sachs and Merrill Lynch in London, New York and Moscow before relocating to Hong Kong in 2010.
In 2018 Yan left her career on Wall Street to pursue seminary training at the Lutheran Theological Seminary, obtaining an MA (in Theology) and an MTh (in Old Testament) by 2020, before being invited to teach Biblical Hebrew and Old Testament as a visiting lecturer there. Yan is currently serving as a Church Minister.
Yan is also a serial entrepreneur and co-founder of a Medical AI company based in Cyberport. Yan recently started her PhD studies with HKU Med, her research topic is Christian cancer care.
