HTT AI–Semiconductor–Robotics Summer Camp 2026 (Week 2): Empowering the Next Generation of Innovators

HTT is pleased to announce the successful completion of the second week of its AI–Semiconductor–Robotics Summer Camp, held from 21 to 25 July 2026, bringing together students and teachers from leading primary and secondary schools across Hong Kong.

The five-day immersive camp provided students with a unique opportunity to explore cutting-edge technologies through hands-on learning, teamwork, and friendly competition. Participants came from a diverse range of institutions, including:

  • CCC Kei To Secondary School (中華基督教會基道中學)
  • S.K.H. Yan Laap Memorial Primary School (聖公會仁立紀念小學)
  • ELCHK Lutheran Secondary School (基督教香港信義會信義中學)

The camp was hosted at ELCHK Lutheran Secondary School, providing an excellent venue for learning and collaboration.

HTT was honoured to welcome distinguished guests and educators who contributed their time and expertise to enrich the students’ learning experience.

A Journey from Theory to Practice

The camp curriculum was carefully designed to guide students from foundational concepts to real-world application. Over the five days, students:

  • Learned about AI and semiconductor history, gaining an understanding of how these technologies have evolved and why they are critical to the future.
  • Explored robotics hardware, from understanding the mechanics of small and large robot dogs to assembling their own units.
  • Worked with STM32 microcontrollers, learning how to deploy code to chips and control robot movements.
  • Tested RGB theory, applying colour and sensor concepts to their robot dogs in hands-on exercises.
  • Visited Hong Kong Science Park, where they toured technology showcases and explored the inner workings of large robotic systems.
  • Received lectures on building large robot dogs, including explanations of 3D-printed components, skeleton structures, and circuit board integration.

The camp also included a field trip to Hong Kong Science Park (HKSTP), where students experienced real-world innovation environments and gained inspiration from industry professionals.

Competition Day: Showcasing Skills and Teamwork

The final day of the camp (Day 5, Saturday) was dedicated to competition, where students demonstrated everything they had learned. The competitions challenged students to apply their newly acquired skills in creative and exciting ways:

  • Competition A: Robot Dog Challenge (Fast Running) – Teams raced their robot dogs to test speed, balance, and control.
  • Competition B: Rainbow Challenge (RGB Color Intensity) – Teams demonstrated their understanding of RGB theory and sensor integration.
  • Competition C: Self-Reflection Time – Students documented their learning journey and personal growth through memo reports.

In addition to the team-based competitions, students participated in a Kahoot! final quiz, with certificates awarded to the top five individual performers.

Judges’ Special Awards (Team-Based)

Three special team awards were also presented to recognise outstanding qualities demonstrated throughout the camp:

  • 🏆 Best Team Spirit Award (最佳團隊精神獎)
  • 🏆 Sunshine Smile Award (陽光笑容獎)
  • 🏆 Innovation and Technology Award (創新科技獎)

Student Feedback and Reflections

Participants were invited to share their feedback on the camp experience, with submissions due by 10 August 2026. Students reflected on what impressed them most and what they learned throughout the week. Many expressed appreciation for:

  • The hands-on experience of building and programming their own robot dogs, which made complex concepts more accessible and engaging.
  • The opportunity to collaborate with students from different schools, fostering teamwork and cross-institutional friendships.
  • The guidance and encouragement provided by teachers and industry professionals, which helped them overcome challenges and build confidence.
  • The exciting competitions, which allowed them to apply their skills in a fun and supportive environment.
  • The insightful lectures and demonstrations, which deepened their understanding of AI, semiconductors, and robotics, and their real-world applications.

The feedback highlighted how the camp not only built technical skills but also nurtured qualities such as perseverance, creativity, and a spirit of collaboration that will serve students well in their future studies and careers.

A Meaningful Educational Dialogue

Throughout the camp, students not only gained technical skills but also developed teamwork, creativity, and confidence. The programme reinforced HTT’s mission to integrate AI, semiconductor, and robotics education into primary and secondary curricula, preparing students for the opportunities and challenges of a technology-driven future.
